00SKIN.AM.PSYCHOSEE

A short film produced for the immersive Mash-Up 006.AM.PSYCHOSEE
Bernhard Ensemble Production - 2025

The piece was a conceptual collaboration with Sarah Kane’s play 4.48 Psychose and Franz Antel’s film 006 am Wolfgangsee, directed by Ernst Kurt Weigl.

The short film forms a fragile collage of two worlds: archival footage that lays bare Franz Antel’s invasive conduct toward his actresses, and my own raw performance - enacting self‑harm, an act that emerged from personal experiences and from the resonant parallels I discovered while inhabiting Sarah Kane’s tormented voice in 006.AM.PSYCHOSEE.

The performance confronts the taboo surrounding self‑injury. It presents the act in a stark, unglamorised manner, inviting viewers to recognize self‑harm as a genuine facet of lived experience and opening a space for dialogue and reflection.

The movie was installed in a deliberately intimate setting: a concealed room beneath the stage seats, where the film was projected onto a shabby wall. Only one audience member could occupy the space at a time, seated in an old cinema chair. This cramped intimacy forces the audience to become a confidant, bearing witness in a private, almost ritualistic moment. Ernst Kurt Weigl, artistic director, embraced this vision, shaping the hidden room to magnify vulnerability and to let the work breathe in its own quiet universe.

In its brevity, 00SKIN.AM.PSYCHOSEE documents historic exploitation and abuse, offers a raw personal testimony that reveals its fractures, and creates an environment that encourages honest conversation about self‑harm and its broader cultural stigmas.
