Semmelweis Reflex describes the immediate rejection of information or a scientific discovery without further consideration or verification of the facts.
In this tragic reenactment, you, as a visitor to our historic clinic, will witness Ignaz Semmelweis — the “saviour of mothers” — make his groundbreaking discovery before your eyes, endure endless defeats, yet never tire of fighting for his cause despite widespread disbelief.
The pioneer of puerperal fever is lured under mysterious circumstances by friends, colleagues, and his wife into a Viennese insane asylum, where he ultimately dies from the very infection whose cause he was the first to identify.
